MotorCity Snowball started with our first event in January 2012 as a way to bring the Detroit community together for one night during the winter for a night of fun and dancing. The main idea was to develop a one of a kind event in a unique location where we could focus on providing an environment where people could come together and have fun. We found that Amnesia, inside MotorCity Casino/Hotel was the perfect venue with it's gorgeous view of the Detroit skyline and a state of the art venue. The staff at MotorCity Casino was more than welcoming and accomodating and has been a great partner with the event.

Next we added the perfect DJ. Detroit's own DJ Doug Roberts, our resident DJ for MotorCity Snowball to provide the perfect beats to keep you dancing and enjoying the night.

But we wanted the night to be more than just a party. So, we decided to partner with a charity in order to make the night more meaningful. What better charity than Ruth Ellis Center? Thier work with the LGBT youth of Detoit and the staff's willingness to work with us made it the perfect match. We have worked closely with Ruth Ellis Center over the years to perfect the evening. In our 4th year we added a Silent Auction, which takes place during the event on the second level of the venue. Items are donated by our sponsors and other people and the attendees can look at and bid on the items through the night. Finally in 2016 we added some late night food/munchies, which are included with your ticket cost, these are put out by the staff around 11:30 and seem to be a hit with the crowd.

In 2017, for the first time we partnered with The Dunes Resort in Saugatuck for our first annual summer sister event, Sweaty Ball. Our parties at the Dunes were a big success.
